How do I fix a black screen after Windows update?

I updated Windows 10 yesterday, and now my screen stays black after booting. I can hear sounds but can’t see anything.

Try pressing Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager and restart "explorer.exe". If that works, you may need to update your graphics drivers.

If that doesn’t help, boot into Safe Mode and uninstall the latest update. Sometimes a buggy driver causes the display issue.
